Time Card Calculator: Weekly Hours, Breaks, Overnight Shifts and Overtime

What is it?

The Time Card Calculator adds up a week of work. Type when you started and finished each day and your break minutes; it totals the Hours, handles overnight shifts, applies an Overtime rule and works out pay from the Hourly rate.

Who is it for?

Hourly workers checking their pay, freelancers, small employers, and supervisors preparing weekly time sheets.

How to use it

  1. Optionally type the Employee name.
  2. For each Day, enter the start and Out times and Break (min).
  3. Set the overtime rule and hourly rate; Copy or Download CSV. Clear week starts fresh.

Worked example

9:00 to 18:30 with a 30-minute break is 9 hours. Five such days make 45 hours; with overtime after 40 hours at 1.5×, 5 hours are paid at time and a half. For timesheets in decimal hours, 7:45 = 7.75.

Errors and how to fix them

  • Negative or tiny hours: check AM and PM; a shift ending after midnight counts as overnight automatically.
  • Overtime pay zero: set the overtime rule and rate.

Questions people ask

  • Can I use 12-hour time? Use the time picker; it handles AM and PM.
  • Can I save several employees? Use the CSV download per employee and week.

Practical tip

Fill the card every day rather than at the end of the week, and keep the CSV for each week. Disagreements about pay are easy to settle when daily times are written down at the time.
