Most groups on ShareYourGroup are run by ordinary people, but any open directory can attract scammers. These checks, which the site also shows before you join, keep you safe.
Red flags
- Paying to join: VIP fees, “registration” charges or deposits. Don’t pay to “join”, “unlock” or “earn”. That’s a scam.
- Easy money: “earn ₹5,000 daily”, liking videos for money, task jobs, crypto or stock tips with guaranteed returns.
- Asking for codes: Never share OTPs, passwords, UPI PINs or bank details — with anyone. No real admin, bank or company needs them.
- Apps and links: Don’t install APK files or open unknown links posted in groups. They can steal messages and bank access.
- Pressure: “Offer ends in 10 minutes”, threats, or personal messages from strangers right after you join.
Protect yourself before joining
- Everyone in the group can see your phone number. Use channels for updates if you want to stay private.
- WhatsApp → Settings → Privacy: set profile photo, About and groups to My contacts. Turn on two-step verification (Settings → Account).
- “Feels wrong? Leave the group and report it here”
If you were cheated
- Don’t pay more to “recover” money; that’s a second scam.
- Call 1930 (India) or report at cybercrime.gov.in as fast as possible.
- Call your bank to block cards and UPI.
- Report the person and group in WhatsApp, and the listing on ShareYourGroup.
