What is it?
The Stopwatch and Timer measures time to a hundredth of a second with lap times, and has a countdown timer that beeps (and vibrates on phones) when it ends. The time stays exact even if you switch apps.
Who is it for?
Runners and coaches, cooks, students timing exam answers, presenters, and teachers running classroom activities.
How to use it
- Stopwatch: Start, Lap for splits (Lap time and Total), Reset.
- Timer: set Hours, Minutes, Seconds and start.
- “Keep this tab open”
Example
Timing 4 laps of a 400 m track: tap Lap after each; the lap list shows each 400 m time and the total for 1.6 km.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Set a time first, for example 5 minutes”
- Didn’t ring or beep: browser timers and alarms only work while the page is open. Keep the tab open, the volume up, silent mode off, and increase the screen timeout. For important alarms, use your phone’s own Clock app too.
Questions people ask
- How accurate is it? To a hundredth of a second; it uses the device clock, so switching apps doesn’t lose time.
- Can I run the timer and stopwatch together? Use one at a time; open another tab for a second timer.
Kitchen example
Set 12 minutes for boiling eggs, keep the tab open, and leave the volume up; the timer beeps and vibrates when it ends.
