What is it?
The Space Typing Game defends your ship from waves of rocks, each carrying a word. Type the first letter to lock on to the nearest rock that starts with it, then type the rest: every correct letter fires a laser and the rock breaks when the word is done. Each wave has more, faster rocks; a rock that reaches the ship knocks off one of three shields.
Who is it for?
Children and teens who enjoy arcade games, learners practising letter accuracy, and teachers who want a reward game after a lesson.
How to use it
- Choose Easy, Normal or Hard and press ▶ Start (or Enter).
- Type into “Type the words on the rocks”. The first letter locks on; finish the word to break the rock.
- Press Escape to release a lock and pick another rock. Pause stops the game.
- At the end: “Game over at wave … with … points.”, with accuracy and best score.
Tips
- Go for the closest rocks first.
- Rocks on screen always start with different letters, so the first key always picks one target.
- Accuracy matters more than speed: each miss costs time.
- It is cartoon-style: rocks break apart; there is no violence or chat, so it suits children.
- Teachers: ask students to note their best wave, then beat it next week.
How speed is counted: every 5 correct characters (letters, spaces and punctuation) count as one word, divided by the minutes you typed. 250 correct characters in one minute is 50 WPM. Accuracy is the share of keystrokes that were right.
Errors and how to fix them
- Wrong letters do nothing: a letter that doesn’t fit the locked word misses and lowers accuracy. Keep typing the right one, or press Escape.
- The game paused: it pauses when you switch tabs; press Start.
- Nothing happens when I type: click or tap inside the typing box first so it has the cursor. Turn Caps Lock off, and close other apps that use keyboard shortcuts.
- My best score or past results are gone: results are kept only in this browser on this device. Clearing browsing data, private/incognito mode or another browser or phone starts fresh.
