Scientific Calculator: DEG/RAD Mode, Ans, Powers and Logs

What is it?

The Scientific Calculator handles trigonometry, powers, roots, logarithms, factorials and constants, with history and the last answer (Ans) ready to reuse.

Who is it for?

School and college students, engineers and anyone needing trigonometry, logs, powers and roots.

How to use it

  1. Choose DEG or RAD.
  2. Type the expression or tap the keys.
  3. Press = and reuse the result with Ans.

Degrees or radians

Switch between DEG and RAD. sin(30) is 0.5 in DEG but −0.988 in RAD. School problems in degrees need DEG. Calculus and physics formulas usually need RAD.

Typing maths

  • Powers: x^2; roots: sqrt(x); multiply: 2*x or just 2x.
  • Functions: sin, cos, tan, log (base 10), ln, exp, abs; constants pi and e.
  • Use brackets generously: 1/(x+1) is not the same as 1/x+1.

Wrong answer?

  • Check DEG/RAD first.
  • -3^2 is −9 (the power comes first). For (−3)² type (-3)^2.
  • log is base 10 and ln is base e. For another base, use the Logarithm Calculator.
  • tan(90°) is undefined; a huge number means you are at an undefined point.
  • Factorials grow fast: 171! is too big for normal numbers. Use the Big Number Calculator for huge whole numbers.

History and Ans

Ans is the last result: type Ans*2 to continue. History and help lists past sums; tap Use this again to edit one.
