Merge PDF: Changing the Order, Big Files and Errors

What is it?

Merge PDF joins two or more PDF files into one, in the order you choose. It runs in your browser, so even private papers like bank statements and ID copies stay on your device.

Who is it for?

Students joining assignment pages, job seekers combining a CV with certificates, office staff merging invoices or reports, and anyone uploading documents to a portal that accepts only one PDF.

How to merge

  1. Tap Choose PDF files and select all the PDFs at once, or add them one by one. You can also drop them on the page.
  2. Put them in order: the list shows each file, and you can move files up or down or remove one.
  3. Tap Merge PDFs. The message shows how many pages the new file has; download it.

Problems and fixes

  • “Add at least one more PDF”: merging needs two files or more.
  • A file is password-protected: protected PDFs can’t be joined until the password is removed.
  • The merged PDF is very large: merging keeps every page exactly as it was, so the size is roughly the sizes added together. Scanned pages are the heaviest; scan at 150–200 dpi instead of 600.
  • Phone runs out of memory: a few hundred pages are fine on most phones. For very large sets, merge in two halves and then merge the halves, or use a computer.
  • Form fields or signatures look different: fillable fields from different files can clash. Fill and flatten each form before merging.

Good to know

  • To join photos instead of PDFs, use Image to PDF, then merge the result with your other PDFs.
  • To change page order inside one PDF afterwards, use the PDF Organizer.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The file is opened and processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Nothing is sent to us, and closing the page clears it.
