Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook users styling bios and captions, gamers making stand-out names, and small businesses decorating social posts.
How it works
These styles use special Unicode characters that look like letters, so they paste anywhere without installing a font. Only AβZ, aβz and 0β9 have fancy versions; other letters stay the same.
Where they work
- Instagram: bio, name and captions work. Usernames only allow plain letters, numbers, dots and underscores.
- Games (BGMI, Free Fire and others): many allow some symbols in names; if one is refused, try another style or fewer symbols.
- Facebook: posts work; profile names with symbols are usually rejected.

The viewerβs phone lacks those characters. Bold, italic and bold-italic styles are the most widely supported; rare styles like small caps or upside-down letters fail more often.
Before you use them
- People canβt search for fancy text: your name wonβt be found by its normal spelling.
- Screen readers read fancy letters badly. Keep important information in normal text.
Errors and how to fix them
- Boxes instead of letters: the device lacks those characters; choose bold or italic styles.
- Instagram rejects a username: usernames allow only plain letters, numbers, dots and underscores; use fancy text in the name or bio instead.
