FD and RD Calculator: Maturity Value for Fixed and Recurring Deposits

What is it?

The FD and RD Calculator shows what a bank deposit will grow to. It works for a fixed deposit (one amount) and a recurring deposit (a fixed amount every month).

Who is it for?

Savers comparing bank deposits, people planning short-term goals, senior citizens, and anyone checking a bank’s maturity figure.

How to use it

  1. Choose FD or RD.
  2. Enter Amount deposited (FD) or Deposit every month (RD), the rate, years and months.
  3. Choose Interest added and read the maturity value and interest.

Example

₹1,00,000 FD at 7% for 3 years, quarterly compounding: about ₹1,23,144. An RD of ₹5,000 a month at 7% for 3 years grows to about ₹2 lakh, of which ₹1,80,000 is your deposits.

Interest is taxable; this is an estimate, not financial advice.

Errors and how to fix them

  • “Enter an interest rate between 0 and 50%”
  • “Choose a period of at least 1 month”
  • “Enter the amount / the monthly deposit (more than 0)”
  • Differs slightly from the bank: banks round daily interest; for exact bank rules use the separate FD or RD calculators.

Questions people ask

  • Which is better, FD or RD? FD for a lump sum you have now; RD for saving monthly from income.
  • Is tax included? No, interest is shown before tax.
