Falling Words Typing Game: How to Play, Score and Level Up

What is it?

Falling Words is a typing game. Words drift down from the top; type one and, as soon as it matches, it vanishes and scores points, with no Enter needed. Every eight words the level rises and words fall faster and more often. If a word reaches the red ground you lose one of five lives.

Who is it for?

Students who find drills boring, children who already know the keys, and anyone wanting to build speed on whole words; a good class warm-up.

How to use it

  1. Choose Easy (short words), Normal or Hard (long words), then press ▶ Start (or Enter).
  2. Type any falling word into “Type the words here”; the word you are typing is highlighted green.
  3. Clear a wrong start with Space or Enter.
  4. Watch Score, Level and lives; Pause stops the game. At the end you see words typed, WPM and “🎉 New best score!” when you beat it.

Scoring

Each word scores 10 points per letter, multiplied by the level. A five-letter word at level 3 is worth 150 points, so long words late in the game matter most.

Tips

  • Type the lowest word first: it lands soonest.
  • Keep your fingers on the home row between words.
  • On a phone, tap the box under the game to open the keyboard; the play area grows taller on narrow screens.
  • Teachers: run a 5-minute class contest and write best scores on the board.

Errors and how to fix them

  • A word won’t disappear: one letter is wrong; press Space or Enter to clear the box and retype.
  • The game stopped: it pauses by itself when you switch tabs; press Start to carry on.
  • Nothing happens when I type: click or tap inside the typing box first so it has the cursor. Turn Caps Lock off, and close other apps that use keyboard shortcuts.
  • My best score or past results are gone: results are kept only in this browser on this device. Clearing browsing data, private/incognito mode or another browser or phone starts fresh.
