Organize Now is DeskOrg’s main button: one press sorts every loose file on your desktop into its category folder.
How to use it
- Open DeskOrg from the desktop icon or the Start Menu. The Control Center opens.
- Click the Organize tab on the left.
- Click Organize Now. In a few seconds your desktop files are in folders such as PDFs, Images and Documents.
The same tab has Open desktop folder, which opens your Desktop in File Explorer so you can see the result.
What happens to each file
- Files of a known type go to their folder (created the first time it’s needed).
- Types not in your rules go to Other Files.
- Shortcuts and programs stay on the desktop.
- A file that is still downloading or open in another program is left for next time.
- Same name already in the folder? The moved file becomes name (2).ext; nothing is replaced.
If it doesn’t work
- Nothing moved: check that the files are on the desktop itself, not inside a folder on it. DeskOrg only sorts the top level.
- Some files stayed: see Why DeskOrg didn’t move some files.
- Can’t find a file afterwards: see Where did my files go?
