What is it?
The Daily Typing Challenge gives one new text every day, the same for everyone on that date: a short passage plus a few extra words. Type it and your best result of the day is saved. Come back daily to build a streak; the chart shows your best speed for each of the last 30 days.
Who is it for?
Anyone building a typing habit, exam candidates who want steady practice, and teachers who set “do today’s challenge” as homework since everyone gets the same text.
How to use it
- Open the page and type today’s text.
- See your speed and accuracy. The cards show Today, Streak, Days played and Best day.
- Press Try today’s text again as often as you like; only your best try counts.
- Read “Your last 30 days (best WPM each day)” to see progress.
How speed is counted: every 5 correct characters (letters, spaces and punctuation) count as one word, divided by the minutes you typed. 250 correct characters in one minute is 50 WPM. Accuracy is the share of keystrokes that were right.
When does it change?
At midnight on your device’s clock. Everyone on the same date gets the same text, so a class or a group of friends can compare results fairly.
Tips
- Ten focused minutes a day beat one long weekly session.
- Tap ★ above the tool to add it to favourites.
- Use the Typing Tutor and Speed Test for deeper practice.
Errors and how to fix them
- Today’s challenge done! Come back tomorrow…: your first result is saved; come back tomorrow for a new text.
- Today’s best stays at … WPM: this try was slower, so your earlier best stays. “🎉 Better than your earlier try today” means the new one was saved.
- Streak reset: a day was missed. If today isn’t done yet, the streak up to yesterday still counts.
- My best score or past results are gone: results are kept only in this browser on this device. Clearing browsing data, private/incognito mode or another browser or phone starts fresh.
