What is it?
The Username Generator gives 20 username ideas from your name or a keyword, in the style you like.
Who is it for?
People creating new Instagram, gaming, YouTube or email accounts, businesses choosing a handle, and parents choosing a safe username for a child.
How to use it
- Type a Name or keyword (optional; leave it empty for random ideas).
- Choose the Style: Cool, Gamer, Professional or Cute.
- Choose how to Join words with (underscore, dot or nothing) and the Longest length.
- Tap Generate usernames and Copy the one you like. Try a sample shows an example.
Platform rules
- Instagram: up to 30 characters; letters, numbers, dots and underscores.
- X (Twitter): up to 15; letters, numbers and underscores.
- Gmail: 6–30; letters, numbers and dots. Games have their own limits.
Good usernames
- Easy to say and spell; avoid many numbers and look-alike letters (l and I).
- Use the same one everywhere so people find you.
- For work, a professional style with your real name looks best. Don’t include your birth year or phone number.
The tool can’t check whether a name is free; try it on the platform.
Example
With the name “Asha Verma” and style Professional, ideas look like asha.verma, ashaverma.design or verma_asha. With Gamer, more playful mixes of a word and a number. Set Join words with to dot or underscore to match the platform’s rules.
Check before you commit
- Search the name on Instagram, YouTube and Google to make sure nobody well-known uses it.
- Avoid names that look like a brand or impersonate someone; platforms remove those.
- If your favourite is taken, try the same name on a different style, or add a short word (official, hq, studio) instead of random numbers.
Safety for children
Children’s usernames shouldn’t include their real full name, school, city or age. Cute or Gamer styles without personal details are safer.
Errors and how to fix them
- Ideas too long: lower Longest length to the platform’s limit.
- Name already taken: the tool can’t check availability; try variations on the platform.
