What is it?
The Unit Converter covers length, weight, volume, area, speed, time, temperature, pressure, energy, power, angle and fuel economy, with every unit shown at once.
Who is it for?
Students with science homework, travellers, online shoppers comparing foreign listings, engineers and technicians, and cooks following recipes from other countries.
How to use it
- Type the Value and pick the From unit.
- Every other unit is shown under In every unit; tap a value to copy it, or use Copy result.
- Tap ⇅ Swap to convert the other way.
US or UK units?
- Gallons, pints and fluid ounces differ: a US gallon is 3.785 L, a UK gallon 4.546 L. Recipes and fuel in the USA use US units; the UK uses UK units.
- Tons: a US (short) ton is 907 kg, a UK (long) ton 1,016 kg, and a metric tonne 1,000 kg.
- The tool labels each one, so pick the one your source uses.
Indian units included
Gaj (square yard), quintal and tola are included. For bigha, kanal, marla and other land units, use the Land Area Converter, which knows each state’s size.
Rounding
Results show up to 10 significant digits using exact definitions (1 inch = 2.54 cm, 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg). If a result like 2.9999999 appears, it is a rounding limit; round it to the accuracy you need.
Errors and how to fix them
- A result looks hugely wrong: check the From unit. Picking a unit that looks similar to the one you meant is the most common mistake.
- Very long decimals: results show up to 10 significant digits; round to what you need.
