What is it?
Text to Speech reads any text aloud with the voices built into your phone or computer: handy for proofreading, learning pronunciation, or listening instead of reading.
Who is it for?
Students listening to notes while travelling, people learning English or Hindi pronunciation, writers proofreading by ear, people with low vision or dyslexia, and anyone who would rather listen than read a long article.
How to use it
- Paste or type in Text.
- Pick a Voice. Each voice speaks one language: choose a Hindi voice for Hindi text, an English (India) voice for Indian English, and so on.
- Set Speed and Pitch, then tap ▶ Read aloud. Use ⏸ Pause and ⏹ Stop while it reads.
There is no Hindi (or other language) voice
Voices come from your device, not from us. To add more: on Android, go to Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech output → Speech Services by Google → Install voice data; on Windows, Settings → Time & language → Speech → Add voices; on iPhone, Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices. Reload the page afterwards. Microsoft Edge has the largest set of natural online voices.
Reading stops or sounds wrong
- Some browsers stop long texts after a few minutes. Read a long article in parts.
- Locking the phone or switching apps pauses speech on most phones.
- Wrong pronunciation usually means a voice for another language is selected.
- No sound at all: check the volume and that the phone isn’t on silent, and that the browser tab isn’t muted.
Can I download the audio as MP3?
Browsers don’t let web pages record their built-in voices, so the speech plays live only. To keep it, use your phone’s screen recorder.
