What is it?
The SVG Optimiser runs SVGO, the standard open-source SVG optimiser, in your browser. It removes editor data, comments and hidden elements, shortens numbers and paths and merges groups, then shows the size saved and both pictures side by side, labelled Before and After, so you can check nothing changed. Files from design apps often shrink by half or more.
Who is it for?
Web designers and developers, bloggers adding logos and icons, and anyone who wants pages to load faster (which also helps SEO).
How to use it
- Tap Open an SVG file, or paste the code into SVG code (or open a file below).
- Choose the Number precision (3 decimals is safe) and options: Remove width/height (scales to its box), Keep ids (for CSS or JS), Pretty print.
- Press Optimise. The note shows the sizes, for example “✓ Optimised · 4.2 KB → 1.6 KB”.
- Compare Before and After, then copy the Optimised SVG or download image.min.svg.
Worked example
An icon saved from Inkscape has width="120.000000", an XML header, a comment, metadata and two nested groups. After optimising at 3 decimals, width becomes 120, the header, comment, metadata and empty groups are gone, the viewBox is kept, and the picture looks identical.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The file is opened and processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The first time, the tool downloads a free helper program it needs (from a public download server); your files themselves are never sent to us or anyone else.
Errors and how to fix them
- This is not valid SVG: …: the code is cut off or is not SVG (for example a PNG renamed .svg). Open the original file again.
- Small details moved: choose a higher precision, such as 4 or 5 decimals.
- Styles or scripts stopped working: tick Keep ids so ids your CSS or JavaScript uses are not renamed.
- Icon does not resize: tick Remove width/height so it scales to its box.
