Split and Join Files: Send Big Files in Parts and Rebuild Them

What is it?

Split and Join Files cuts a big file into smaller numbered parts so it fits email or upload limits. Later, it joins the parts back into the original file.

Who is it for?

People emailing large videos or backups, students uploading big projects to portals with size limits, and anyone moving files over limited channels.

How to use it

  1. To split: choose ✂️ Split, Choose the file to split, pick a size (e.g. 25 MB (Gmail)) or A number of equal parts…, and download the parts.
  2. To join: choose 🧩 Join, select all the parts, and download the rebuilt file.

Joining without this tool

On Windows, Command Prompt can join parts too: copy /b video.mp4.001+video.mp4.002 video.mp4. Parts are made by cutting the file, not copying it, so even large videos split instantly.

Errors and how to fix them

  • “Every part must end in a number, like video.mp4.001, video.mp4.002”: don’t rename the parts.
  • “These parts come from different files. Choose the parts of one file only”
  • “This file is empty”
  • “That would make more than 999 parts. Choose a bigger part size”

Questions people ask

  • Is my file uploaded? No, splitting and joining happen on your device.
  • Can I open one part alone? No, join all parts first.
