What is it?
The Split Expenses Calculator works out the Total spent, Each person’s share, and the fewest Payments to settle so everyone has paid the same.
Who is it for?
Friends on trips, flatmates, office lunch groups and families sharing costs for events.
How to use it
Write who paid what, one person per line (name and amount), like:
Ravi 4500
Asha 1200
Karan 0
Include people who paid nothing with 0. If someone paid twice, add their amounts together on one line: two lines with the same name count as two different people. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Tap Copy result to copy it, or Share on WhatsApp to send it.
Reading the result
“Karan pays Ravi ₹1,900” lists exactly who sends money to whom. The fewest transfers means fewer UPI payments to make.
Unequal shares
This splits equally. If one person should pay less (a child, someone who joined for one day), handle their part separately first, or agree on amounts and enter them as already paid.
Tips
- Share the result on WhatsApp so everyone sees the same numbers.
- For restaurant bills with tip, the Tip Calculator and Bill Splitter is quicker.
Worked example
Asha paid 1,200, Ravi 300, Meena 0: share 500 each; Meena pays Asha 500 and Ravi pays Asha 200.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Add at least two people”: one person per line with an amount.
