What is it?
The Running Pace Calculator turns a distance and a finish time into your pace and speed. It also predicts your half marathon and marathon times at that pace.
Who is it for?
Runners training for 5K, 10K, half or full marathons, and coaches setting training paces.
How to use it
Enter the distance, choose the Unit (Kilometres or Miles), and the time in hours, minutes and seconds. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Tap Copy result to copy it, or Share on WhatsApp to send it.
Using it for races
- To pace a target: a 10K in 60 minutes needs 6:00 per km. Enter 10 km and 1:00:00.
- Race projections assume you hold the same pace. Real marathon times are usually 5–10% slower than a 10K pace suggests.
- Start races a little slower than your target pace; going out too fast is the most common mistake.
Training paces
Most training runs should be easy, 60–90 seconds per km slower than race pace. The Heart Rate Zone Calculator helps you keep easy runs easy.
To convert a pace you already know into speed, use the Pace ↔ Speed Converter.
Worked example
10 km in 55:00 is 5:30 per km (10.9 km/h); at that pace a half marathon takes about 1:56.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Enter the distance / the time (more than 0)”: fill in both.
