What is it?
The Random Number Generator picks one or many random numbers between two values, with or without repeats.
Who is it for?
Teachers picking roll numbers, organisers running lucky draws, game players, researchers selecting samples, and anyone needing a fair, unpredictable number.
How to use it
- Set From and the highest value (Use whole numbers for the lowest and highest values.), and How many (1 to 10,000).
- Choose whether numbers may repeat, then tap Generate. Copy the result.
Messages
- “The range is too big (up to about 4 billion numbers)”
- “Pick between 1 and 10,000 numbers”
- Without repeats, you can’t pick more numbers than the range holds: 20 unique numbers from 1–10 isn’t possible.
Is it really random?
Yes. It uses your browser’s secure random number generator (the same kind used for passwords), so every result is equally likely and can’t be predicted or influenced.
Uses
- Lucky draws: number the entries, pick a number, and share a screenshot for transparency.
- Choosing random roll numbers, samples or seats.
- Games, quizzes and classroom activities.
Worked examples
- Lucky draw with 250 entries: number the entries 1–250, set From 1 to 250, How many 3, no repeats: three different winners.
- Random roll numbers for a viva: class of 40, pick 10 without repeats.
- OTP-style test values: 100000 to 999999 gives 6-digit numbers.
With or without repeats?
- Without repeats (unique) for winners, seats and samples: nobody can be picked twice.
- With repeats for dice-like games or simulations, where the same number can come up again.
Running a transparent draw
- Share the numbered list of entries first.
- Do the draw on a shared screen or live stream.
- Take a screenshot of the result with the time showing.
