What is it?
The RD Calculator shows what a bank recurring deposit (a fixed amount every month) will be worth when it matures. It shows the maturity amount, the total you deposit, the interest earned and the maturity date.
Who is it for?
Salaried people saving a fixed amount monthly, students and homemakers building savings, and anyone planning a short-term goal.
How to use it
Enter the Monthly deposit, Interest rate, Period and Start date. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Pick your Currency at the top if asked, then tap Copy result or Share on WhatsApp.
How RD interest works
It uses the method Indian banks use: quarterly compounding on each monthly instalment. Your first instalment earns interest for the whole period, your last one for only a month, which is why RD interest looks lower than an FD at the same rate.
Good to know
- Missing an instalment usually adds a small penalty per month of delay, and several missed instalments can close the RD.
- RD interest is taxable and TDS rules are the same as for FDs.
- Post Office RDs run for 5 years with their own rate: use the Post Office RD calculator for those.
- For long-term goals, an SIP in a mutual fund may grow more, with market risk. RDs suit short goals of 1–3 years where safety matters most.
This is an estimate to help you plan, not financial or tax advice. For big decisions, check the latest rules and talk to a qualified adviser.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Enter the monthly deposit (more than 0)”: fill in the instalment.
- “Most banks need at least 6 months”: lengthen the period.
