What is it?
The Post Office RD Calculator shows the Maturity value after 5 years, Total deposited and Interest earned.
Who is it for?
People saving small monthly amounts safely at the post office.
How to use it
Enter the Monthly deposit (from ₹100) and the Interest rate. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Tap Copy result to copy it, or Share on WhatsApp to send it.
How it works
Post Office Recurring Deposit runs for 5 years with interest compounded every quarter. India Post’s own table may differ by a few rupees because of rounding.
Rules to know
- Deposit by the 15th if opened in the first half of a month, or by the end of the month if opened in the second half.
- A late instalment has a small default fee; after 4 missed instalments the account becomes inactive and must be revived within 2 months.
- A loan of up to 50% of the balance is available after 1 year.
- It can be extended for another 5 years.
Tax
RD interest is taxable, with no 80C benefit. For a bank RD, use the RD Calculator.
Check the current rate
Small savings rates are set by the Government of India every quarter. The calculator starts with the rate shown on it; check the latest rate on the India Post website or at your post office or bank before investing, and type it in.
This is an estimate to help you plan, not financial or tax advice. Read the scheme or policy documents, and ask a qualified adviser for big decisions.
Errors and how to fix them
- Differs by a few rupees from India Post: rounding differences; normal.
