What is it?
The PPF Calculator estimates the Maturity value of a Public Provident Fund account, with Total deposited and tax-free Interest, year by year.
Who is it for?
Long-term, safety-first savers, salaried people under the old tax regime, and parents opening PPF for children.
How to use it
Enter the Yearly deposit (₹500 to ₹1,50,000), the Interest rate and Years. The rate is set by the government every quarter; check the current rate at India Post or your bank. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Pick your Currency at the top if asked, then tap Copy result or Share on WhatsApp.
Deposit before the 5th
PPF interest is worked out monthly on the lowest balance between the 5th and the end of the month. The calculator assumes you deposit before the 5th of April each year, which earns interest for the full year. Depositing later earns less.
Rules to know
- PPF matures after 15 years (counted from the end of the year you opened it) and can be extended in 5-year blocks, with or without new deposits.
- At least ₹500 a year keeps the account active; a missed year means a small penalty to revive it.
- Partial withdrawal is allowed from the 7th year, and loans in years 3 to 6.
- PPF is EEE: deposits (under 80C in the old regime), interest and maturity are all tax-free.
This is an estimate to help you plan, not financial or tax advice. For big decisions, check the latest rules and talk to a qualified adviser.
Errors and how to fix them
- “The PPF limit is ₹1,50,000 a year”: lower the yearly deposit.
