What is it?
The Meditation Timer lets you sit without checking the clock. Set the Minutes, a Settling-in time and Interval bells; a soft singing-bowl bell starts and ends the session, and your sessions and streak are logged.
Who is it for?
People starting meditation or prayer practice, yoga practitioners, and anyone building a daily mindfulness habit.
How to use it
- Set Minutes (1–180), settling-in time and interval bells; Test the bell.
- Tap Begin, sit comfortably, close your eyes.
- The bell ends the session: Session complete.
Starting out
Start with 5 minutes a day at the same time; consistency matters more than length. When the mind wanders, notice it and gently return to the breath.
Your sessions are saved only on this device.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Choose between 1 and 180 minutes”
- Bell didn’t ring: Keep this page open (and the phone unlocked) so the bells can ring. Set a long screen timeout and turn on Do Not Disturb.
Questions people ask
- What is settling-in time? A few quiet seconds or minutes before the first bell, so you can sit down and settle.
- What are interval bells? Soft bells during the session, for example every 5 minutes, to bring back wandering attention or switch practices.
- Where is my streak? Below the timer, from the sessions saved on this device.
Example
A 10-minute session with 30 seconds settling-in and a bell every 5 minutes: sit, breathe naturally, and at each bell check your posture and return to the breath.
