Mass to Weight Calculator: Newtons and Your Weight on Other Planets

What is it?

The Mass to Weight Calculator turns a mass in kg into weight in newtons on Earth. It also shows what a bathroom scale would read on the Moon and on each planet.

Who is it for?

Physics students learning mass and weight, teachers making science fun, and space fans curious about other planets.

How to use it

Type your mass in kg. Read Weight on Earth, Weight on the Moon and the table by Place. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Tap Copy result to copy it, or Share on WhatsApp to send it.

Mass vs weight

  • Mass is how much matter you have, in kg. It is the same everywhere.
  • Weight is the pull of gravity on that mass, in newtons (N). On Earth, 1 kg weighs about 9.81 N.
  • Bathroom scales measure the pull, then show it as kg for Earth. On the Moon (gravity about 1/6 of Earth’s) a 60 kg person’s scale would show about 10 kg, while their mass is still 60 kg.

For school physics

W = m × g. Use g = 9.8 m/s² (or 9.81, or 10 if your teacher says so; check which value your textbook uses, because answers change slightly).

Errors and how to fix them

  • “Enter a mass (more than 0)”: type the mass in kg.
