Logic Puzzles: How to Solve Seating, Truth-Teller and Lateral Thinking Riddles

What is it?

Logic Puzzles is a collection of more than 30 reasoning puzzles we wrote: seat five friends from a few clues, decide which guard tells the truth, crack a simple code, spot a pattern, or explain a strange situation by thinking sideways. Every puzzle has exactly one answer that the clues lead to, and the explanation shows the full reasoning, so you learn the method, not just the answer.

Who is it for?

Students preparing for the reasoning section of school olympiads and competitive or job aptitude tests, puzzle fans, and teachers who want to practise careful thinking in class.

How to use it

  1. Read the riddle in the big box. The line above it shows its number, how many riddles there are and how many you have solved (βœ“ means this one is solved).
  2. Type your answer in the box and press Check (or Enter). A right answer shows Correct! πŸŽ‰, the answer and a short explanation.
  3. Stuck? πŸ’‘ Hint gives a clue; πŸ‘€ Answer shows the answer and why it is right.
  4. Move on with Next β–Ά, go back with β—€, or jump anywhere with πŸ”€ Random. Choose Not solved at the top to skip the riddles you have already cracked.
  5. Send the riddle (without the answer) to a friend with Share on WhatsApp or Copy. Open See all riddles with answers for the full list.

Method that works for most puzzles

  • Write the clues down and fill a small line or grid as you go.
  • Start with the certain clue, such as β€œAsha sits at the far left”, then add clues that link to it.
  • For truth-teller and liar puzzles, assume one person tells the truth and follow it through; if you reach a contradiction, the assumption was wrong.
  • Lateral thinking: question the hidden assumption. Why does a phone stay at 100% all night while playing films? Because it was on charge.
  • For many grid-style puzzles at once, try Logic Grid Puzzles in the games section.

Errors and how to fix them

  • β€œYour answer…” shown in red: you pressed Check with an empty box. Type a guess first.
  • β€œNot quite. Try again, or take a hint.”: your answer did not match. Capital letters, β€œa” and β€œthe”, plurals, spaces and punctuation are already ignored, and common other wordings are accepted, so try another word for the same thing, or press πŸ‘€ Answer to compare.
  • My answer is a name or an order, and it was rejected: give just the answer the question asks for (for example the one name, or the code word), not the whole seating line.
  • β€œYou have solved them all! πŸ†β€: with Not solved chosen there is nothing left. Switch back to All to play them again.
  • My ticks and solved count are gone: progress is saved only in this browser on this device. A private (incognito) window, clearing site data, or another phone or browser starts from zero.
