Kisan Vikas Patra Calculator: When Your Money Doubles

What is it?

The Kisan Vikas Patra Calculator shows when your money doubles, the Maturity date and the Maturity value.

Who is it for?

Savers, including farmers and rural families, wanting a guaranteed doubling of money with government backing.

How to use it

Enter the Amount invested (from ₹1,000), the Date of purchase and the Interest rate. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Tap Copy result to copy it, or Share on WhatsApp to send it.

How KVP works

Kisan Vikas Patra doubles your money in a fixed period set by the rate when you buy (115 months at 7.5%, which is 9 years 7 months). The period is fixed on the day you buy; later rate changes don’t affect it.

Rules to know

  • Anyone can buy it, not only farmers. Minimum ₹1,000, in multiples of ₹100, no upper limit (PAN and income proof needed for large amounts).
  • Lock-in of 2 years 6 months; after that it can be encashed early at a lower value.
  • Interest is taxable; there is no 80C benefit. You can declare the interest every year or at maturity.

Who it suits

People who want a guaranteed, government-backed amount at a known date and don’t need regular income. If you are in a high tax slab, compare the after-tax return with tax-free options like PPF.

Check the current rate

Small savings rates are set by the Government of India every quarter. The calculator starts with the rate shown on it; check the latest rate on the India Post website or at your post office or bank before investing, and type it in.

This is an estimate to help you plan, not financial or tax advice. Read the scheme or policy documents, and ask a qualified adviser for big decisions.

Errors and how to fix them

  • Maturity date odd: check the purchase date.
