Height Converter: Feet and Inches to cm and Back

What is it?

The Height Converter converts height between feet and inches and centimetres, in both directions.

Who is it for?

People filling forms that ask for height in cm, matrimonial profile writers, parents tracking children’s growth, and anyone using foreign apps.

How to use it

  1. Under Convert, choose Feet & inches → cm or Centimetres → feet & inches.
  2. Type the height: Feet and Inches in their own boxes, or Centimetres.
  3. Read the height in cm, metres, total inches and feet. Tap Copy result or Share on WhatsApp; Reset puts the example values back.

The “5.6 feet” mistake

People often write 5 feet 6 inches as “5.6 ft”. But 5.6 feet is 5 feet 7.2 inches. Always type feet and inches separately: 5 ft 6 in = 167.6 cm.

Quick reference

  • 1 inch = 2.54 cm; 1 foot = 30.48 cm.
  • 5 ft = 152.4 cm, 5 ft 6 in = 167.6 cm, 6 ft = 182.9 cm.

Measuring height correctly

  • Stand barefoot against a wall, heels together, looking straight ahead.
  • Place a book flat on your head against the wall, mark the bottom edge, and measure from the floor.
  • You are about 1 cm taller in the morning than in the evening.

Forms for passports, police or the army usually want height in cm. Use your measured value, rounded as the form asks.

Errors and how to fix them

  • “Enter a height (more than 0)”: fill in the height.
  • Inches above 11: 5 ft 14 in is really 6 ft 2 in; the tool adds them correctly, but forms expect inches under 12, so write it as 6 ft 2 in.
