HEIC to JPG: Open iPhone Photos on Windows, Android and Websites

What is it?

iPhones save photos as HEIC to save space, but many websites, Windows PCs, printers and government portals can’t open them. HEIC to JPG converts one photo or many at once to JPG (or PNG) right in your browser.

Who is it for?

iPhone users uploading photos to forms and job portals, people who received HEIC photos on a Windows PC or Android phone, photo shops printing customer pictures, and anyone emailing iPhone photos.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or more .heic or .heif photos.
  2. Pick Convert to: JPG (smaller, works everywhere) or PNG.
  3. Tap Convert. You’ll see Converting … for each photo; download them one by one or all together.

Stop the iPhone making HEIC

On the iPhone, go to Settings › Camera › Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG.

Privacy tip

The converted copies don’t carry the location and camera details (the tool says “the location and camera details are not copied”), so they are safer to post publicly. Try a sample converts a small HEIC picture so you can see it working.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file is opened and changed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Nothing is sent to us, and closing the page clears it.

Errors and how to fix them

  • This file could not be opened. or “It may be damaged”: the file is not a complete HEIC photo. Send it again from the iPhone using “Most compatible” or share it as a file.
  • “This kind of HEIF is not supported yet”: some special HEIF files (Live Photo sequences, depth images) can’t be read. Open the photo on the iPhone and share it again.
  • Photo is sideways: rotate it with an image editor after converting.
