What is it?
The Guitar and Instrument Tuner uses your microphone to show the note you play, its frequency and how many cents sharp or flat it is. It supports guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, cello and more, with reference tones and a custom Reference A4 (Hz).
Who is it for?
Guitarists, ukulele and violin players, music students and teachers, and anyone without a clip-on tuner.
How to use it
- Choose the Instrument and tap 🎤 Start tuner.
- Press Start and play a note: play one string and turn the peg until the needle is centred.
- Or Tap a string to hear its note and tune by ear.
Good to know
Standard guitar tuning is E A D G B E. Tune up to the note (from flat), which holds better. The sound is analysed on your device and never recorded or uploaded.
Errors and how to fix them
- “This browser cannot …”: use a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a secure (https) page. In-app browsers (Instagram, Facebook) often block cameras and microphones: open the page in your browser.
- “Permission denied” or nothing happens: allow the microphone/camera in the browser’s site settings (icon left of the address), and in phone Settings → Apps → your browser → Permissions.
- Used by another app: close video-call apps (Zoom, Meet, WhatsApp calls) that hold the device.
- Needle jumps around: play one string at a time in a quiet room, close to the microphone; let the note ring.
- Reads an octave wrong: that’s harmonics; the note name matters most.
