What is it?
The Excel ↔ CSV Converter changes spreadsheets both ways on your device. Excel → CSV gives one CSV file per sheet, with the separator your software needs and an optional UTF-8 marker so Excel shows ₹, é and Hindi correctly. CSV → Excel builds a real .xlsx workbook, one sheet per CSV file, with numbers stored as numbers and codes like 007 or phone numbers kept exactly as typed.
Who is it for?
Accountants importing data into Tally or other software, online sellers uploading product lists, and anyone whose software accepts only one of the two formats.
How to use it
- Choose the direction: Excel → CSV or CSV → Excel.
- For Excel → CSV, pick the Separator (Comma ,, Semicolon ; (Europe) or Tab) and keep Add BOM so Excel shows ₹, é, हिंदी correctly ticked. Then Choose Excel files.
- For CSV → Excel, Choose CSV files; several files become several sheets.
- Check the preview of the first sheet, then download each file, or all of them together as a ZIP.
Worked example
A CSV line such as "Lopez, Maria",+34 600 123 456,Madrid,2100 becomes a workbook row with the name in one cell (the comma inside quotes is kept), the phone number as text so the + and spaces stay, and 2100 as a real number you can add up. Sheet names are made safe automatically, so sales/2026:Q1?.csv becomes “sales 2026 Q1”.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The file is opened and processed inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. The first time, the tool downloads a free helper program it needs (from a public download server); your files themselves are never sent to us or anyone else.
Errors and how to fix them
- Could not read this file: …: the workbook is damaged or password-protected. Open it in Excel, remove the password, and save it again.
- Formulas are missing: CSV can only hold values, so the calculated results are saved. Formatting, colours and charts are not part of CSV either.
- Columns jumbled in European Excel: choose the semicolon separator.
- Garbled characters in Excel: keep the BOM option ticked.
