What is it?
The EPF Calculator estimates your Employees’ Provident Fund balance at retirement, with total contributions and interest.
Who is it for?
Salaried employees with PF deductions planning retirement, and anyone checking their EPFO balance’s future.
How to use it
Enter Basic + DA a month, Your age, Retire at, your EPF balance now (from the EPFO passbook), the Salary increase a year and the EPF interest rate. Read EPF at retirement, Total contributed (you + employer) and Interest earned. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Pick your Currency at the top if asked, then tap Copy result or Share on WhatsApp.
How contributions work
You put 12% of basic; your employer puts 3.67% into EPF (the other 8.33% goes to the pension scheme, EPS). If your basic is above ₹15,000, the employer’s EPS share is usually capped at ₹1,250 a month and the rest goes to EPF; this depends on your employer.
Interest
Interest is worked out monthly and added once a year, as EPFO does. The rate is declared every year by EPFO; check the latest rate before planning.
Good to know
- Check your balance on the EPFO member passbook site or the UMANG app with your UAN.
- Transfer your PF when you change jobs instead of withdrawing, so it keeps compounding.
- Withdrawals after 5 years of continuous service are tax-free. Interest on your own contributions above ₹2.5 lakh a year is taxable.
- Voluntary PF (VPF) lets you add more at the same rate.
This is an estimate to help you plan, not financial or tax advice. For big decisions, check the latest rules and talk to a qualified adviser.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Check the ages”: your age must be below the retirement age.
