DeskOrg Smart Automation: File New Desktop Items Automatically

With Smart Automation on, DeskOrg watches your desktop in the background. A few seconds after a new file arrives, it is filed with the same rules as Organize Now.

Turn it on

  1. Open DeskOrg and click Smart Automation.
  2. Click Install / Enable automation. Click Yes if Windows asks.
  3. Click View automation status to confirm it’s running.

It starts by itself every time you sign in to Windows (as the task DeskOrg Smart Automation), and waits about 8 seconds after files change so downloads can finish first.

Pause or remove it

  • Disable automation stops the watching but keeps the setup, so you can enable it again later.
  • Uninstall automation removes it completely. Organize Now still works.

If it doesn’t work

  • New files aren’t filed: click View automation status. If it isn’t running, click Install / Enable automation again, or sign out and back in.
  • A file I dragged back keeps disappearing: automation files it again. Disable automation while you work with it, or protect its type in your rules.
  • Office PC with restrictions: some workplaces block scheduled tasks. Use Organize Now instead, or ask your IT person.
  • Check Activity & Logs › Check automation file to confirm DeskOrg’s automation files are present.
