What is it?
The Word Frequency Counter lists the words you use most, with how often each appears.
Who is it for?
SEO writers checking keyword use, students reducing repeated words in essays, researchers analysing feedback or survey answers, and speakers checking their key message is repeated enough.
How to use it
- Paste your text in Your text or article.
- Under Count, choose Single words or Two-word phrases.
- Read the list of the most used words with how often each appears. Change Show the top to see more or fewer.
Reading the list
1. tools — 4 (8.3%) means “tools” appears 4 times and makes up 8.3% of all words (its keyword density).
Useful settings
- Skip common words hides the, and, of, is and similar words that every text has.
- Two-word phrases finds pairs like “free tools” or “home loan”.
- Shortest word to count hides very short words; Show the top limits the list.
Is a high density good for SEO?
No. Repeating a keyword too much reads badly and search engines may treat it as spam. Around 1–2% for the main keyword, used naturally, is plenty.
Worked example
A 600-word blog post about home loans where “EMI” appears 12 times has a density of 2%. If “home loan” as a phrase appears 3 times, it’s 0.5%: you may want to use the main phrase a little more naturally in headings and the first paragraph.
Uses beyond SEO
- Essays: spot words you overuse (“very”, “really”, “basically”) and swap some for better words.
- Customer feedback: paste reviews or survey answers to see what people mention most (“delivery”, “price”, “late”).
- Speeches: check you repeat your key message enough to be remembered.
Common mistakes
- Leaving common words in hides the useful ones; keep Skip common words on.
- Plurals count separately: “tool” and “tools” are two entries. Add them together when judging a topic.
- Very short texts give misleading percentages; use at least a few hundred words.

Errors and how to fix them
- Common words like “the” fill the top of the list: tick Skip common words (the, and, of…).
- Short words such as “a” or “to” are counted: raise Shortest word to count.
- Nothing appears: the box is empty, or every word is shorter than the shortest length you set.
