Make Your Own WhatsApp Sticker: Size, Transparency and Adding It to WhatsApp

What is it?

WhatsApp stickers must be 512 × 512 pixels, in WebP format, under 100 KB, ideally with a transparent background. The Sticker Maker makes exactly that, with an optional white outline.

Who is it for?

Friends making stickers of each other, families turning pet or baby photos into stickers, and brands making stickers with their logo or mascot for customers to share.

Make the sticker

  1. Choose a photo or picture. A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest sticker.
  2. Adjust Size and position, and choose the outline if you like.
  3. Tap Download to save the .webp file.

Add it to WhatsApp

  • WhatsApp Web or Desktop: open a chat → emoji → Stickers → Create and pick your image, or attach the .webp file; it is sent as a sticker. Once sent, tap it on your phone → Add to favourites.
  • Android and iPhone: newer WhatsApp versions have Create sticker in the sticker tray. You can also import the .webp with a sticker-pack app; WhatsApp packs need at least 3 stickers.

Problems and fixes

  • White or black box around the sticker: the photo had a background. Remove it first (a background remover) and use the transparent PNG.
  • WhatsApp says the sticker file is too large: the tool keeps stickers under 100 KB. If you edited it in another app afterwards, make it again here.

Example

A photo of your pet with the background removed (as a PNG) plus the white outline makes a sticker that looks like the official ones. Keep important parts away from the edges, which can be trimmed.
