WhatsApp Chat Analyzer: Who Texts Most, Busiest Hours and Top Words

What is it?

The WhatsApp Chat Analyzer turns an exported WhatsApp chat into fun statistics. See who texts most, the busiest hours and days, and the most used words and emoji.

Who is it for?

Friends curious about who talks the most, group admins checking how active a group is, couples looking back at their chats, and small businesses seeing when customers usually message so they can reply faster at those hours.

How to export a chat from WhatsApp

  • Android: open the chat → tap ⋮ (top right) → More → Export chat → choose Without media (a .txt file) or Include media (a .zip with photos). Save it to Files or Drive.
  • iPhone: open the chat → tap the contact or group name at the top → scroll down → Export Chat → Without Media or Attach Media → Save to Files.
  • WhatsApp exports at most about the latest 40,000 messages without media (10,000 with media). Older messages are not in the file.

How to use it

  1. Export the chat (see above). Without media is enough and much smaller.
  2. Open the .txt or .zip in the tool.
  3. Read the charts. Groups show every member who wrote at least one message.

Understanding the numbers

  • A message is one bubble. People who send many short messages rank higher than people who write long ones.
  • Busiest hours use the time shown in the export, which is the exporting phone’s time zone.
  • System lines like “Messages are end-to-end encrypted” or “X added Y” are not counted as anyone’s messages. “Media omitted” lines count as messages but not as words.

Numbers look wrong

  • The export only holds the latest messages (about 40,000 without media), so very old messages are not counted.
  • One person can appear twice if their saved contact name changed during the chat, or if they changed phone number.
  • Deleted messages (“This message was deleted”) count as messages but have no words.

Nothing is uploaded: the chat is analysed inside your browser.
