A group invite link lets people join your group by tapping it, without you saving their number. Admins make it from Group info › Invite to group via link, and can reset it at any time so the old link stops working.
Make and share a link on Android
- Open the group and tap the group name at the top.
- Scroll down and tap Invite to group via link (on some versions it sits under Add members › Invite via link).
- Choose how to share it: Send link via WhatsApp, Copy link, Share link (other apps), or QR code.
Make and share a link on iPhone
- Open the group and tap the group name.
- Tap Invite to Group via Link.
- Pick Share Link, Copy Link or QR Code.
Only admins see this option, unless the admins allowed everyone to add members. The link looks like chat.whatsapp.com/ followed by letters.
Reset the link
If the link reached the wrong people, reset it. The old link stops working at once and a new one is made.
- Android: Invite to group via link › Reset link › Reset link.
- iPhone: Invite to Group via Link › Reset Link › Reset Link.
People already in the group stay. Only new joins through the old link are blocked. You can also turn on Approve new members in group admin settings so you check each person first.
Join a group with a link
- Tap the link in a message, website or post. WhatsApp opens and shows the group name, photo and how many members it has.
- Tap Join group (or Request to join if the admin approves members).
- If you scanned a QR code with your camera, tap the link that appears, then join.

If it doesn't work
- "This invite link was reset" or "Couldn't join": the admin made a new link, so ask them for it.
- "Group is full": the group has reached its limit of 1,024 members.
- "You can't join this group because you were removed": an admin removed you before. Only an admin can add you back.
- Nothing happens when you tap: update WhatsApp, or copy the link and open it in your phone browser.
Safety tip
When you join with a link, every member can see your phone number. Be careful with groups from strangers that promise jobs, money or prizes; they are often scams (see scam messages). Leave at once if a group asks for codes, payments or personal details.
This is GroupChatOn’s own easy guide. We are not WhatsApp and are not linked with WhatsApp or Meta. WhatsApp sometimes changes its menus: if a button looks different on your phone, update WhatsApp from the Play Store or App Store.
