Voice Recorder: Record Voice Notes in the Browser and Save as WAV

What is it?

The Voice Recorder records voice notes, interviews, lectures or song ideas in the browser, with pause, a level meter and playback, then lets you download them (also as WAV). Nothing is uploaded.

Who is it for?

Students recording lectures, journalists and YouTubers, singers capturing ideas, teachers recording instructions, and anyone without a recorder app.

How to use it

  1. Tap ● Start recording and allow the microphone (Asking for the microphone…).
  2. Speak; Pause when needed, then ■ Stop.
  3. Play it back, then Download or Save as WAV; Delete removes it.

Tips

Earphones with a microphone reduce room echo. For long lectures, make several shorter recordings so one problem doesn’t lose everything. Ask permission before recording other people.

Errors and how to fix them

  • “This browser cannot …”: use a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a secure (https) page. In-app browsers (Instagram, Facebook) often block cameras and microphones: open the page in your browser.
  • “Permission denied” or nothing happens: allow the microphone/camera in the browser’s site settings (icon left of the address), and in phone Settings → Apps → your browser → Permissions.
  • Used by another app: close video-call apps (Zoom, Meet, WhatsApp calls) that hold the device.
  • “This browser could not convert the recording to WAV”: download the original format instead; most players open it.
  • Recording is very quiet: move closer, check the level meter, and check the right microphone is selected.
  • Recording stopped when the screen locked: keep the screen on; phones pause browser recording in the background.
