What is it?
Sight Words Flashcards help children recognise the small words that appear on almost every page (the, said, was, where) at a glance. It has the 220 Dolch words in levels, spoken cards, “I know it” tracking and a listening quiz.
Who is it for?
Children in nursery to Class 2 learning to read in English, parents, and teachers running reading programmes.
How to use it
- Pick a level. Show the card; tap 🔊 Say it if needed.
- Tap ✓ I know it or ↺ Again later; unknown words come back.
- Shuffle mixes cards; Reset this level starts over. Try the quiz with Hear again.
How to practise
Five minutes a day beats an hour once a week. Aim for instant recognition: if a child must sound out “said”, mark it Again later. Point the words out in storybooks so they see them in real sentences.
For parents and teachers
Short sessions work best: 5–10 minutes a day, then something active. Sit with young children, say the answers aloud together, and praise effort, not just right answers. Everything runs on the device with no sign-up, no chat and no data collected about your child.
Errors and how to fix them
- No sound when tapping 🔊: turn up the volume, switch off silent mode (on iPhone, the side switch), and check the browser tab isn’t muted. Sounds use your device’s built-in voices.
- Progress lost: it’s saved in this browser; another device starts fresh.
