What is it?
The Phone Number Formatter cleans a pasted list of phone numbers: it removes spaces, dashes and brackets, adds the country code, removes duplicates and gives you one clean number per line.
Who is it for?
Shop owners, schools, NGOs, election volunteers and sales teams with messy lists of numbers from forms, registers or Excel, who need clean, duplicate-free numbers for WhatsApp, SMS, contacts or a CRM.
How to use it
- Choose the Country for numbers without a code (for example India).
- Paste numbers in Paste numbers (any format, one per line). Columns copied from Excel, contacts exports and messages all work.
- Read the Clean, unique numbers. Copy them or Download CSV for Excel or Google Sheets.
Numbers under “Check each number”
- Too short or too long for that country: a digit is missing or extra.
- Letters or two numbers on one line. Split them onto separate lines.
- A landline written without its area code.
Using the clean list
- Excel: format the column as Text before pasting, or Excel may turn long numbers into 9.19876E+11.
- Google Contacts or your phone: import the CSV; numbers with + and the country code work in every country.
- WhatsApp broadcast: a broadcast only reaches people who have saved your number in their contacts.
The list is cleaned in your browser and never uploaded.
Worked example
Pasting 098765 43210, +91-98765-43210 and 9876543210 with India selected gives one clean number, +919876543210, because all three are the same number written differently.
Common sources of messy lists
- Exported phone contacts, Excel sheets typed by hand, and numbers copied from WhatsApp chats.
Errors and how to fix them
- Many numbers under Check each number: the wrong default country is selected; numbers without a code get that country’s code.
- Two people with one number: the duplicate is removed; keep names in your source sheet if you need them.
- CSV opens with numbers like 9.18E+11 in Excel: import the column as Text.
