Overtime Pay Calculator: Time and a Half, Double Time and Total Pay

What is it?

The Overtime Pay Calculator works out your pay for extra hours. It shows your regular pay, the overtime rate per hour, your overtime pay and your total pay.

Who is it for?

Hourly and shift workers, factory and shop staff, and supervisors calculating overtime wages.

How to use it

Enter your Hourly rate, Regular hours and Overtime hours, and choose what Overtime pays: 1.5× (time and a half), 2× (double time) or 1.25×. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Pick your Currency at the top if asked, then tap Copy result or Share on WhatsApp.

Monthly salary? Find your hourly rate

Divide your monthly wage by the hours you normally work in a month. In India, the Factories Act works overtime on “ordinary rate of wages” (basic + DA and some allowances) ÷ normal hours.

What the law commonly says

  • India: workers covered by the Factories Act and Shops and Establishments Acts get twice the ordinary rate for hours over 9 a day or 48 a week (rules vary by state and are changing with the new labour codes).
  • USA: non-exempt employees get at least 1.5× for hours over 40 in a week.
  • UK: no legal overtime rate; it depends on your contract, but average pay must stay above minimum wage.

Managers and many salaried staff are often exempt. Check your contract and local labour office.

Errors and how to fix them

  • Overtime pay zero: overtime hours are empty.
