What is it?
Nonogram Picture Puzzles hides a picture in a grid. The numbers beside each row and above each column give the lengths of the filled blocks in that line, in order. Work out which squares must be filled and which must stay empty, and a heart, a cat or a boat appears. Every puzzle is checked to be solvable one line at a time, without guessing.
Who is it for?
Fans of sudoku and logic puzzles who want something more visual, children who like colouring puzzles, and anyone looking for a calm brain workout.
How to use it
- Pick a Puzzle: 10 × 10 pictures, 5 × 5 (quick), 10 × 10 random or 15 × 15 (hard), and press New puzzle.
- With ■ Fill chosen, tap squares to fill them; drag to fill several.
- Switch to ✕ Mark empty (or right-click) to mark squares that must stay blank.
- Clues turn grey when that line matches. When all match you see Every clue is satisfied.
- Use Check, Hint (+10 seconds), Clear or Show answer.
Worked example
A clue of 3 1 means a block of 3 filled squares, at least one gap, then 1 filled square. In a 10-square row, a clue of 8 must cover the middle 6 squares wherever the block sits, so fill those first. A clue of 0 means the whole line is empty: mark it all with ✕.
Thick lines every 5 squares make counting easier. Keyboard: arrows move, Space fills, X marks empty.
Errors and how to fix them
- “2 squares are wrong (flashing red).”: after Check; fix them before they mislead you.
- “No mistakes so far.”: keep going.
- “Hint: row 4, column 7 (+10 seconds).”: that square is now set correctly.
- Dragging scrolls the page instead of filling: start the drag inside the grid, or tap squares one by one.
- The board is too small or cut off on my phone: turn the phone sideways, or zoom out the page; the board fits the width of the screen.
- My game, best time or score has gone: it is kept only in this browser on this device. Private windows, clearing site data, or another browser or phone start fresh.
