What is it?
Mines: Clear the Field is the classic logic game. A field hides mines; each square you open shows how many mines touch it (all eight neighbours). Use the numbers to work out where the mines are, flag them, and open every safe square to win. Your first tap is always safe.
Who is it for?
Logic puzzle fans, people who played the old computer version and want it on a phone, and anyone who likes a quick game with a best time to beat.
How to use it
- Choose a Level: Easy: 9 × 9, 10 mines, Medium: 12 × 12, 24 mines or Hard: 16 × 16, 40 mines, and press New game.
- Tap any square to start; it opens an empty area.
- Flag mines with a long-press, a right-click, or by switching 🚩 Flag mode: off to on (then every tap flags).
- Tap a number whose mines are all flagged to open all its other neighbours at once.
- Watch Mines left, Seconds and Best. Win shows You win!.
Worked example
A 1 touching only one hidden square means that square is a mine: flag it. If another 1 next to it already touches that flagged mine, all its other hidden neighbours are safe: tap the 1 to open them. A 2 on a straight edge with exactly two hidden neighbours means both are mines.
Keyboard: arrows move, Space opens, F flags. Near the end you may occasionally face a true 50/50 guess, as in every version of this game.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Game over.” with “💥 Boom! You opened a mine. Press New game to try again.”: you opened a mine, or tapped a number with a wrong flag around it.
- Long-press selects text or opens a menu: use Flag mode instead.
- Mines left shows a negative number: you placed more flags than there are mines; some flags are wrong.
- The board is too small or cut off on my phone: turn the phone sideways, or zoom out the page; the board fits the width of the screen.
- My game, best time or score has gone: it is kept only in this browser on this device. Private windows, clearing site data, or another browser or phone start fresh.
