Ludo: Play 2 to 4 Players on One Device or Against the Computer

What is it?

Ludo is the much-loved board game, on one device. Roll a 6 to bring a token out, race it round the board, send rivals back to their yard by landing on them, and get all four tokens home first. Choose 2, 3 or 4 players and make any of them the computer.

Who is it for?

Families and friends playing on one phone or computer, people who want to play alone against the computer, and children learning to count and take turns.

How to use it

  1. Choose 2 players, 3 or 4, and tap a colour to switch it between person and computer.
  2. Tick or untick Extra roll after a capture or getting a token home.
  3. Press Roll (or Space, or tap the board) on your turn.
  4. Movable tokens get a dashed ring: tap one, or press its number 1–4. If only one move is possible it happens automatically.
  5. Get all four tokens to the middle first to win; New game starts again.

Strategy tips

  • Spread your risk: having two tokens out gives you choices on every roll.
  • Rest on star squares when a rival is just behind you.
  • Capture when you can: sending a rival home costs them many turns.
  • Untick the extra roll for a shorter, calmer game. The computer uses the same fair dice; it just prefers sensible moves.

Errors and how to fix them

  • I rolled but nothing moved: you need a 6 to bring a token out, or no token can move that number (you need the exact number to reach home). The turn passes.
  • My token was not captured on a star: stars and coloured start squares are safe.
  • I lost my turn after sixes: three 6s in a row lose the turn.
  • Roll does nothing: it is the computer’s turn; wait for it to move.
  • My game, best time or score has gone: it is kept only in this browser on this device. Private windows, clearing site data, or another browser or phone start fresh.
