Compass: Find North, Facing Directions and Follow a Bearing

What is it?

The Compass shows which way you’re facing in degrees and 16 directions, and lets you Lock this bearing to follow on a walk. Check which way a flat or balcony faces before buying, or find north for vastu or prayer.

Who is it for?

Home buyers checking flat direction, trekkers, people setting up satellite dishes or solar panels, and anyone who needs north quickly.

How to use it

  1. Tap Start compass.
  2. Hold the phone flat, away from magnets and metal.
  3. Turn until you face the direction you want; tap Lock this bearing to follow it; Unlock to release.

Magnetic vs true north

Phone compasses point to magnetic north, which in India is within about 1–2° of true north, close enough for everyday use. For a flat’s facing, stand at the main door facing out and read the direction.
