What is it?
The Character Limit Checker tells you if your text fits the length limits of popular apps. It checks more than 20 limits at once, including X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, SMS and Google search results.
Who is it for?
Social media managers, small businesses posting on many platforms, bloggers writing SEO titles, and anyone sending SMS campaigns.
How to use it
- Type or paste your post, caption, title or message.
- See which limits it fits and how many characters are left.
- Trim until everything you need is green; Clear to start again.
Key limits
- X post 280; Instagram caption 2,200 and bio 150; YouTube title 100.
- Google shows about 60 characters of a title and 155–160 of a description.
- SMS 160 per part in English.
Errors and how to fix them
- Count differs from the app: some apps count emoji, links or line breaks differently (X counts every link as 23 characters).
- SMS shows more parts than expected: Hindi or emoji switch SMS to a smaller 70-character part.
Questions people ask
- Does it count spaces? Yes, as the platforms do.
- Is my text saved? No, it’s checked in your browser only.
Practical tip
Write your longest version first (a blog description or LinkedIn post), then trim it down for X and SMS while watching the counts. Keep the most important words in the first 100 characters, since many apps cut previews early.
