What is it?
The CAGR Calculator finds the compound annual growth rate: the steady yearly rate that turns a Starting value into an Ending value over a number of Years.
Who is it for?
Investors comparing funds, shares or property, and business owners measuring growth of sales or customers.
How to use it
Enter the three values and read the CAGR, the Total growth and how often it Doubles every so many years. The answer appears as you type; there is no Calculate button. Pick your Currency at the top if asked, then tap Copy result or Share on WhatsApp.
Why CAGR and not average return?
If an investment goes up 50% one year and down 50% the next, the average return looks like 0%, but you have lost 25% (100 → 150 → 75). CAGR shows the real result: −13.4% a year. It is the fair way to compare investments, sales growth or prices over time.
Uses
- A share or fund bought at one price and valued at another years later.
- Business revenue or customers growing from year 1 to year 5.
- Land or house prices over time.
Limits
- CAGR hides ups and downs in between. Two investments with the same CAGR can have very different risk.
- It only works for one amount at the start. If you added or took out money along the way (SIPs, top-ups), use the XIRR Calculator.
- Years can be decimals: 2 years 6 months is 2.5.
Errors and how to fix them
- “Enter the starting value / the years (more than 0)”: fill both in.
