Audio Trimmer and Ringtone Maker: Cut a Song or Recording

What is it?

The Audio Trimmer shows your song or recording as a waveform. Drag the markers to choose the part to keep, add a gentle fade in and out, listen, and save it as MP3 or WAV. It is ideal for ringtones and for cutting silence or mistakes from recordings.

Who is it for?

People making ringtones and alarm tones, teachers and students cutting recordings, dancers and performers preparing music, and anyone saving one answer from a long interview.

How to use it

  1. Choose a song or recording.
  2. Drag on the Waveform: drag to choose the part to keep, or type the Start and end times.
  3. Choose fades (or No fade in / No fade out), and tap ▶ Play the part to check; ■ Stop stops it.
  4. Tap Save the part and download.

Make a ringtone

Set the start at the chorus, use the 30-second ringtone button, add a 1–2 second fade in and out, and save as MP3 (Android). For iPhone, the tool reminds you: convert the MP3 to M4A with Audio Converter and rename it to .m4r.

The audio is decoded and saved in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Try a sample opens a short tune to practise on.

Errors and how to fix them

  • “… could not be opened as audio. Try MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG, or convert it first with our Audio Converter”: formats like AMR or WMA need converting first.
  • “Choose a part at least 0.1 s long: the end must be after the start”: move the end marker after the start.
  • No sound when playing: turn up the volume and turn off silent mode; some phones mute web audio in silent mode.
