What is it?
The XML Validator checks that XML is written correctly: every tag closed and nested properly, with one root element. Errors show the line and the likely cause, and a valid file gets a short summary of its structure.
Who is it for?
Website owners checking sitemap.xml and RSS feeds, accountants handling e-invoice or GST XML exports, developers editing config files, and Blogger users checking theme code.
How to use it
- Paste the XML in XML to check.
- Read the result: an error with its line, or the summary.
- Fix the line shown and check again until it’s valid.
Well-formed vs valid
Well-formed means the XML follows the basic rules, which this tool checks. A specific format (like a sitemap or an e-invoice schema) may also require certain tags; check those against its documentation. To reformat or convert XML, use the XML Formatter.

Errors and how to fix them
- Unclosed or mismatched tag: a tag opened on one line isn’t closed, or tags close in the wrong order (
<b><i>…</b></i>). - Error at an & character: write a bare & as
&, especially in URLs. - More than one root element: wrap everything in one outer tag.
- Error on line 1: something (even a space or BOM) comes before
<?xml; remove it.
