What is it?
The Weight Converter converts kilograms, grams, pounds, ounces and stones, and also writes the result as “11 st 3 lb” and “154 lb 5 oz”.
Who is it for?
People tracking body weight with foreign scales or apps, online shoppers, travellers checking baggage limits, and cooks.
How to use it
- Type the Value and pick the From unit.
- Every other unit is shown under In every unit; tap a value to copy it, or use Copy result.
- Tap ⇅ Swap to convert the other way.
Quick conversions
- 1 kg = 2.2046 lb. Quick estimate: double the kg and add 10%.
- 1 lb = 453.6 g; 1 oz = 28.35 g; 1 stone = 14 lb = 6.35 kg.
Where each is used
- India and most countries: kg. USA: pounds. UK: stones and pounds for body weight, kg in shops.
- Airline baggage is in kg or lb; check your ticket. A 23 kg bag limit is about 50 lb.
- Gold in India is often in tola (about 11.66 g); the Unit Converter has tola.
Good to know
Scales measure the pull of gravity, but show it as mass in kg. That’s why the same scale reads correctly anywhere on Earth but would read about one-sixth on the Moon: see the Mass to Weight Calculator for fun.
Errors and how to fix them
- A result looks hugely wrong: check the From unit. Picking a unit that looks similar to the one you meant is the most common mistake.
- Very long decimals: results show up to 10 significant digits; round to what you need.
