Typing Certificate: Take a Timed Test and Download Your Certificate

What is it?

Typing Certificate makes a certificate from a timed test you take here. Enter your name, choose a 1, 2, 3 or 5-minute test, and type the passage. When time is up the certificate shows your name, WPM, accuracy, level, test length, date and a check code. Download it as a high-resolution PNG or print it on A4.

Who is it for?

Students adding a skill to a CV or portfolio, teachers rewarding progress, and computer-course trainers giving end-of-course certificates.

How to use it

  1. Type your name in “Name on the certificate”.
  2. Choose the test length (2 to 5 minutes gives the most reliable result).
  3. Press Start the test: “Type the passage. The certificate is made when the time is up.”
  4. When “… WPM at …% accuracy. Your certificate is ready below.” appears, download the PNG or press Print.
  5. Try a sample shows the design, marked SAMPLE.

Levels

Beginner under 25 WPM, Intermediate 25–39, Professional 40–59, Expert 60 and above.

Is it official?

No. It states clearly that it is a self-taken online test, with the formula “Speed = (correct characters ÷ 5) per minute”. The certificate can only be made from a test taken here, not from typed-in numbers. The check code is made from your name, speed, accuracy, test length and date, so a certificate whose details were edited no longer matches its code.

Tip: warm up with a practice test first so the certificate shows your real speed.

Errors and how to fix them

  • “Type your name first, as it should appear on the certificate”: the name box is empty.
  • “Too few characters were typed for a certificate. Start again when you are ready”: type steadily until the time runs out.
  • Printed small or cut: print A4 landscape with “fit to page”.
